Laminares
1989-1992
The Laminares is an extension of the Cabaraquara drawings series: a linear strip of vegetation over a water slide. The thing is that these drawings are not from the Atlantic coast, but from the deep interior of the continent, the Pantanal, which I visited for the first time a few years after finishing the Cabaraquara drawings. The resonance of images between two panoramas so far apart, created, for me, an interaction of poetic dimension. This event gave rise to the project of imagining a landscape representation of southern America in which the various continental ecosystems could dialogue with each other in an elaborate, imagined visual arrangement, but with a concrete basis (since all the work is built from the direct observation).
Laminares

A série Laminares é uma extensão dos desenhos do Cabaraquara: uma faixa de vegetação sobre uma lâmina de água. O detalhe é que estes desenhos não são da faixa litorânea atlântica, mas do interior profundo do continente, no Pantanal, que visitei pela primeira vez poucos anos depois de finalizar os desenhos do Cabaraquara. A ressonância das imagens entre dois panoramas tão distantes entre si, criou, para mim, uma interação de dimensão poética. Esse acontecimento fez surgir o projeto de imaginar uma representação da paisagem da América meridional em que os diversos ecossistemas continentais pudessem dialogar entre si em um arranjo visual elaborado, imaginado, mas com uma base concreta (já que todo o trabalho é construído a partir da observação direta).
